WINE DOGGY BAG NEWS –FALL 2007
Summer is coming to an end……….
We know summer is coming to an end when Thomas (our CEO) starts letting his hair grow and begins to look, once again, like the Australian Shepherd he is. Aside from a quick vacation at his favorite Bed and Biscuit Spa, he had been quite busy during the past few months.
He’s hired two customer service reps, promoted Mary Beck to Vice President-Administration, planned for a West Coast distribution center and added new marketing materials to our product line. He’s also been interviewing for new Board members and you’ll see new faces this year. Responding to an inquiry from the EOAA (Equal Opportunities for Animals Association) the Board has again voted to exclude cats from serving. Thomas welcomes comments on this subject.
Our state legislatures have been busy……….
New Mexico, West Virginia and North Dakota are the latest states to enact “wine doggy bag” laws. A wine doggy bag bill will be introduced in Alaska’s next session while our friends in Georgia have again failed to pass the law making them, Alaska and Mississippi the only states where you cannot take home unfinished wine. The District of Columbia is also looking to enact wine doggy bag legislation next year.
Benefits continue to be reported…………
The Ohio Restaurant Association recently conducted a survey of its members, the results showing that more than 50% of those responding reported an increase in bottled wine sales if wine doggy bags are available. We’ve also heard that tables are turning over faster with guests no longer lingering to finish that last drop of wine.
New marketing materials to help spread the word……..
We’ve redesigned our table tents with a new look and sturdier construction and have added server buttons to our line of marketing materials. We are told that both items have helped to introduce patrons to the wine doggy bag laws and increase the sale of bottled wines. You can get a set of all of our marketing materials and a supply of wine doggy bags by purchasing a PupKit. Check our on line shopping cart for details……and don’t forget about our larger wine doggy bags to fit your 1.5L magnum bottles.
We’re starting a new project……………………
As you already know, we are not just wine lovers, but also dog lovers. We’ve started a collection of wines with dogs on the label that will eventually work its way to our website. If you know of any such labels or, better yet, have an empty bottle or two we’d appreciate hearing from you. Just call or email us and we’ll get back to you. Feel free to mail the bottles, empty please, to our office.
